Alimentacion Quiroga
About This Spot
Stepping into Alimentacion Quiroga is like finding a warm corner of Madrid where the city’s vibrant pulse softens into a friendly, bustling hum. Nestled in the heart of Centro, this spot unfolds more like a cherished neighborhood rendezvous than a conventional restaurant or grocery. The space feels lively and unpretentious, with chatter weaving through the air alongside the clinking of glasses and the subtle rustle of paper wrapping around freshly sliced Jamon Iberico or carefully packed cheeses.
The atmosphere captures a certain comfortable chaos, where locals and visitors alike settle in to savor thoughtfully curated bites and sips at their own unhurried pace. It’s a place that invites sharing — a simple wooden table crowded with an assortment of European cheeses, thin slices of cured meats, and small plates revealing hints of Spanish tradition and quiet culinary surprises. Here, a toastie might arrive piled generously, a perfectly balanced counterpoint to a glass of vermú on tap, while the autumnal notes in a Rioja or a fresh breeze from an Albariño linger gently in the background.
Beyond just food and drink, Alimentacion Quiroga embodies an experience of connection: the friendly banter of staff who know their regulars by name, the casual camaraderie sparked between strangers drawn to the same platter of embutidos, and the cozy buzz that turns a casual visit into a memory. It’s lively but never overwhelming — a space where the rhythm comes from shared appreciation rather than volume or speed.
Exploring the menu here isn’t about ticking off classic dishes but about discovering personal favorites among the rich, varied selections: creamy cheeses, smoky torreznos, or artful tostas that blend local flavors with a touch of European flair. For those who cherish moments spent slowly savoring tastes and textures, paired with good conversation and ever-present warmth, Alimentacion Quiroga quietly holds a place on the map where tradition and neighborhood spirit coexist.

My kind of place. Tithe uninitiated, they might even call it a Bodega. Tasty treats. Good wine ( mostly) - some house wine not drinkable. Great great atmosphere. Loud and cozy and odd!

Very pleased with the place. A unique experience in this neighborhood. We enjoyed the food and I particularly liked the friendly atmosphere created by the team with us. We will tell our friends. Thanks Quiroga

Very nice aperitivos! The artichokes served with slices of fish in olive oil was so good! Very good platter options, all very delicious. I think you can choose anything and it won’t disappoint. The toasties are quite big, they have good selection including meat and fish. We had artichoke as entry, then came the platter and then we decided to order toasties too. Very happy with our selection. The ambiance is nice as well, every one seemed to be enjoying their time.

It’s a nice experience. The place gives you a feeling of “Spanish vibe”, however the waiters speak English well and mostly you may meet guiris. Tacos and Los chipirones - Alcachofa with fish - we did not get the taste. Great variety the cheese and embutidos (sausages / meat etc) Recommended

place is one of Madrid’s true hidden gems. The variety of cheeses, wines, and carefully selected tapas is outstanding. As someone who loves good cheese and good company, I absolutely adore it here. The atmosphere is incredibly cool and inviting — definitely a spot worth visiting!

The food is perfect, just like the wine. The jamón melts in your mouth, and the selection of cheeses and toppings is impeccable. The place has interesting decor, but everything feels quite cramped when full. Still, an interesting experience and excellent food. Don't let the crowding discourage you.

A place with a good atmosphere, calm and cozy. We found the food to be very good, traditional Spanish cuisine. The menu is interesting and offers a good variety, as do the wines. The service, however, was not great; we had a surly waitress, and the service was very slow. Nevertheless, the food made up for it.
